Analysis of Geomagnetic Ap Index on Worldwide Earthquake Occurrence using the Principal Component Analysis and Hierarchical Cluster Analysis

Geoeffective solar events, especially the coronal mass ejection (CME) and high-speed wind (HSSW) will induce geomagnetic storm upon its arrival to Earth. The events could trigger an earthquake occurred during arrival. In this study, focus is on proxy of geoeffective which Ap index data shallow worldwide earthquakes. main objective was investigate impact storms occurrences earthquakes from 1994 2017 a statistical perspective. obtained Helmholtz-Centre Postdam - GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences were United States Geological Survey (USGS) catalogue. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) Hierarchical Cluster (HCA) used analyse data. Two groups PCA biplot: Group 1 before event (Day-4 Day-1) 2 after group (Day 0 Day+4). A two-cluster solution HCA, shows that days geostorm are divided into two clusters. results show activity might have different behaviour occurred. conclusion, emphasize there differences between occurrence, hence, influence cannot be neglected entirely.
